IT Architect - 1 year Contact

IT Architect required for a one year contract to assist in providing architecture goverance, IS Strategy alignment and the ongoing development of an architecture repository.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Support architecture governance, through ongoing consultation and the review of project deliverables at appropriate gates:

-Ensuring that all proposed systems and services align to technology standards, principles and roadmaps.
-Ensuring that all proposed systems and services align to the IS strategy.
-Assessing the potential impacts of proposed IS changes.

Assist in the procurement of IS systems and services:
-Consult with project stakeholders on tender proposals, advocating IS best practices and standards.
-Support project stakeholders in the determination of appropriate sourcing strategies for IS systems and services (eg cloud solutions, internal development, commercial off the shelf)
- Assist projects in developing appropriate non-functional requirements
-Contribute to the evaluation of responses to tenders for IS systems and services.

Contribute to the development of an architecture repository:
-Technology landscape/roadmap documents for core technology capabilities
-Architecture principles
-Current/Future state view of application estate
-Architecture policies and procedures

Assist in the regular reporting of current progress and alignment to the IS Strategy.

Contribute to the delivery of key IS strategic documents (cloud strategies, integration strategies, application hosting/delivery, etc.)

Chairing and contributing to the Enterprise Architecture Group, a virtual team of technical experts from across the company..

Communicating effectively to stakeholders via meetings, presentations and reports

Advocate IS best practices based on industry knowledge and technology domain expertise.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

6 years+ experience in an IT architect role
Extensive experience in the delivery of key architecture artefacts such as technology landscape documents and application configuration models
An ability to apply architecture principles, technology roadmaps and best practices to IS projects.
Experience in the delivery of IS strategic documents
An ability to take a big picture' strategic view as well as being able to work at a detailed level across a broad range of technologies and approaches
Excellent all round technical knowledge - infrastructure, application & data
Experience in the delivery of a number of large scale IT transformation projects
Expert level analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent presentation and report writing skills, proven ability to present architectural recommendations in a clear and concise manner
Ability to analyse complex problems and present them clearly and concisely
Ability to work independently with a focus on delivery

DESIRED SKILLS:

ITIL Certification
Familiarity with Prince2
Previous experience in the utility industry
