SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (ISERIES) AS400

General Description:

We need you to provide hands-on system administration support, system maintenance and operations support of the company's IBM iSeries infrastructure. Also, recommend software and hardware enhancements, Build, configure, and troubleshoot software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up-grades. You will also diagnose and correct computer systems issues. We need you to maintain a commitment to providing an outstanding level of service to every customer. You will take part in developing, and ensures ongoing support of our business strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Perform IBM iSeries Administration - system installs, PTF deployment, software installation, configuration, custom development, and security
- Provides disaster recovery plan requirements
- Participates in specialized projects requiring technical research and/or vendor coordination
- Performs problem isolation, definition, resolution and follow-up for system, application, and customer problems
- Monitors system activity and tunes system parameters for optimum performance
- Provides technical assistance to other members of the IT organization
- Researches and recommends architecture layout and design for IBMs iSeries computing platform to ensure availability, reliability, and recoverability
- Assists with the installation and administration of iSeries compatible operating systems
- Stays current with the latest industry technologies, trends, and issues
- Handles escalated incidents from the Operations Center
- Performs administrative type functions such as recording meeting minutes, distributing escalated tickets, updating documentation and databases, and other administrative tasks as needed
- Takes direction from Management, Architecture, and Engineering
- Adheres to established timelines, guidelines, and procedures while utilizing Company tools as required to deliver quality solutions that meet company and departmental standards
- Adheres to server policies, procedures and design documentation
- Maintains a flexible schedule to accomplish tasks
- Utilize strong analytical and technical skills
- Maintains a commitment to providing outstanding customer service to each customer

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Requires an understanding of the following: server operating systems, server topologies, server hardware, and security
- Understanding of network operating systems and applications required
- Standardized IT applications must be learned and used as policy specifies
- Must always be sensitive to availability, performance, data privacy, and security when performing job functions
- Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks, while working within strict schedules
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, customers, and vendors
- Must be effective working on tasks as a team member as well as alone
- Requires knowledge of the OS/400 operating system and DB2 database
- Mimix, MQ Systems, Aldon, Robot applications, Software Installs

Typically requires years of 5-8 experience in the field. Skills/Specialties include OS/400, DB2, PTF deployment, HP Arcsight. Certifications include IBM Certified System Administrator. Typically holds Bachelor's Degree.
