In order to assist in the following tasks, our client requesting the assistance of a specialized IS Security Consultant in IT security field, with an experience in risk management and the WRITING OF SECURITY PLANS. The requested profile is SENIOR CONSULTANT LEVEL.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS
- To perform, in co-operation with IT staff, Risk Analysis for several Information Systems. The candidate will participate in the definition of IT security measures that cover the protection of the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Information Systems in use in. These Risk Analysis' and the specifications of the IT security measures will cover areas like infrastructure, network and software components as well as the overall system security monitoring and maintenance.
- To review the IT security Plan. The candidate will review the existing IT Security Plans according to the specifications defined in the document "Implementing Rules C(2006)3602". These Security Plans include information (scope, responsibilities, organisation) related to Information System(s) concerned, old and new. They will also include a description of the IT security measures to implement, the resource requirements and the means to monitor the effectiveness of the Security Plan.
- To draft, when necessary, documents summarising findings, options and recommendations to be presented to internal Committees (Security Cabinet, BO group, OS-AFU, ITSC, ...)
- To take into account the IT standards and procedures matching specifications delivered by the ICT Security unit of the Security Directorate and if useful, the work already performed by other departments in this field.
- To involve the management and development team of the unit with the use of agreed methodology and tools.
- To provide practical instructions and guidance concerning IT security to the operational services
- To review the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) in force by incorporating the risks linked to potential cyber-attacks and to suggest complementary measures to those already proposed by the Security Cabinet.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The technical environment comprises Oracle databases, and applications built typically in ColdFusion, Java and PowerBuilder. Applications are mostly developed in-house.
The working environment is a team of about 50 persons, including a development team of about 20 people. Working languages are English and French. Written documentation is in English.
Typical project sizes are 2 to 10 person/years, with a phased approach. Business analysts and Project Managers are expected to be multi-tasking between several projects.
The user environment with over 1100 users and on-line services for external usage.
CANDIDATE PROFILE/GENERAL REQUIREMENT:
- In depth knowledge of Information Systems security and security management methodologies and tools
- Good knowledge of IT technologies, especially the ones in use at the Commission (Oracle, Linux, Cisco, ColdFusion, Java) and in security of these technologies.
- The knowledge of IT security standards (ISO 17799/27001, ISF, COBIT, ITIL, NIST and Common Criteria) is an asset.
