I am currently looking for an experienced IP NETWORK ENGINEER to work on a 3 MONTH EXTENDABLE contract for a market leading client of mine in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE VALID WORK AUTHORIZATION FOR SOUTH AFRICA.
Candidates should demonstrate progressive experience in troubleshooting IPT /network issues, providing customers with problem management/root cause analysis, and act as an escalation point for advanced IPT and Network issues. Also responsible for contributing in project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, new product implementation, implementing existing products and services, and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of network engineering.
JOBSPECIFICATION:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar.
CERTIFICATIONS: CCNA, CCNP/CCIP, CCSP or equivalent Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei/Quidway or Juniper certifications.
SYSTEMS: Windows, CISCO SYSTEMS, Alcatel-Lucent, Fortigate, UNIX, Linux
NETWORKING: SWITCHES, ROUTERS, SERVERS, CABLES, RACKS, FIREWALLS, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, VPN, LATENCY, PACKET LOSSES, QOS, ROUTING PROTOCOLS ESPECIALLY BGP.
EXPERIENCE: 6+ years working experience in IP Networks and nodes.
GOOD WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF MAJOR IP NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES, VPN, IPSEC, LOAD SHARING/BALANCING, NETWORK SECURITY.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
- Provides second level support to Network Operations and acts as Subject Matter Expert
for operations requiring technical added value on specific network products, in PARTICULAR IP
NETWORK AND CORE PLATFORMS.
- Troubleshooting and configuration of IP NETWORK AND IP NODES (CISCO, ALCATEL- LUCENT, FORTIGATE AND HUAWEI/QUIDWAY SWITCHES, ROUTERS AND FIREWALLS).
- Provides second level subject matter expert support to Network Operations.
- Intervenes and executes service provisioning and fault handling activities.
- Provides pro-active analysis of customer networks to address and improve quality.
- Assists the planning and development of the customer's service and network solution.
- Help managing the customer IP network infrastructure and operation.
- Generating weekly/monthly KPIs (IP/Core network availability and performance reports).
- Managing all faults status (Change requests, trouble tickets and alarm log statistics).
