IP Network Architect/Engineer

IP network architect and engineer to oversee the design and administration of Cisco IP network infrastructure, video management systems, and Storage Networks for IP video surveillance networks.

Responsible for leading, planning, and implementing projects related to the expansion of existing video surveillance network. The candidate may also be tasked with general network support and build-outs including security, routing, switching, and other network related duties. The candidate will also be required to provide mentoring, training, and support for the other engineering team members as required.

Will be responsible for advising businesses with new cameras; consulting on what customer premise equipment is needed, provisioning new camera into Genetec video NW management and storage system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Attend and participate in internal and customer meetings related to network expansion projects and existing assigned project work
- Work with proposal scope development team to identify scope components and validate technical architecture approach
- Responsible for designing, staging, configuration, implementation, and support for network installations
- Develop technical documentation to support the proposed design and implementation approach, including but not limited to network diagrams and test plans
- Contribute expert technical content regarding networking technologies for presentations, proposals, Statements of Work, responses to Requests for Proposal and project plans
- Oversight of the provision and configuration of network components, performance management, fault management, and creating reports on network performance.

SKILLS:

REQUIRED:

- Strong Cisco and Video Management Background
- 5 years of experience required
- Understanding of IP Network Architecture specifically understanding IP schemes, VPN and IP routing tree topology
- IP Network Administration with strong skills in IP Networking and routing; Cisco 7600 series Routers, Cisco 15454 ONS Switches, EIGRP Routing, perform trace routing, IP configurations, Firewalls
- Video Systems Management components including IP Video Solutions, IP Multicast, IBM Blade Servers, IBM SANs - not expertise but able to understand if one of the components is causing the trouble
- Experience with outdoor public safety surveillance networks
- Experience in Dense Wave Division Multiplexing and Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing based fiber optic networks.
