THE IB COSTS TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ANALYTICAL AND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT TO THE IB CFO AND SENIOR EXECUTIVE IN RESPECTIVE OF REGULAR COST AND HEADCOUNT MANAGEMENT INFORMATION, INVESTMENT AND BENEFITS TRACKING, AND INDEPENDENT CHALLENGE OF ALL ASPECTS OF THE IB COST BASE (DIRECT AND INDIRECT ALLOCATIONS FROM M&IB TRANSVERSAL AND GROUP FUNCTIONS). ALSO SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT AND REVIEW OF PROSPECTIVE INFORMATION SUCH AS BUDGETS AND FORECASTS. THIS ROLE WILL REQUIRE THE CANDIDATE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH KEY CUSTOMERS WITHIN THE INVESTMENT AND COST REDUCTION ENVIRONMENT, SUCH AS IB COO CHANGE AND GROUP PROJECTS

Specific responsibilities:

* Partner the business in helping them manage all aspects of their cost base by providing high quality MI that is appropriate to challenge spend and to drive decision making in a timely manner
* Developing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the cost base and its drivers in order to become a valued business partner
* Facilitating the delivery of realistic/challenging budgets, quarterly forecasts and rolling forecasts on behalf of the relevant function(s)
* Reporting of any synergies achieved, commentary on variances to target, analysis of trends, KPIs and cost drivers
* Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of headcount, costs and related accruals, and the robust substantiation of relevant balance sheet items
* Provision of high-quality analysis of historic costs and headcount movements that facilitate future management of these trends - commentary that reads well and addresses, what happened, why it happened and what impacts the event has on the future cost base of that function
* Liaise with appropriate finance/function teams to ensure programme benefits are understood, agreed and factored into financial forecasts/budgets. Facilitating the implementation of cost saving initiatives - constructively challenging functional management of efficiency targets, budgets, etc.
* Review and challenge project business cases, providing feedback to CFO and other Investment Board stakeholders. Support the project sponsor/manager in completing the business case financial section including P&L/amortisation profile.

REQUIRED:

- Strong numerical and analytical skills, including ability to understand inter-relationships and interpret trends in financial data
- Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA OR qualified by experience, with practical experience in a similar role
- Strong PC Modelling skills including Excel.
- Experienced user of Word/PowerPoint
- Significant experience of Khalix (or similar MI databases for enquiry and analysis)
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of benefits delivery
- Financial services experience, including strong knowledge of International Banking products
- Experience in managing small teams effectively, including management of extended teams offshore

Desirable:

- Experience of managing and controlling costs to a budget successfully
- Strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting experience
- Project and/or business improvements experience
