Investment Case Analyst Location: Crawley, W. Sussex

The objective of the smart metering project is to deliver a capability to the B2C and B2B (SME) businesses that allows smart meters to be rolled out across the resi and SME customer base in a cost efficient way. The roll out of smart meters is expected to ramp up from 2013 onwards with peak installation volumes occurring across 2015 - 2019 inclusive. The role exists with the Value & Integrity workstream. The objective of this team is to ensure consistency between scope, design and investment case. The role with sit in the 'Value' leg of the team and support the Investment Case lead through leadership and management of a number of 'Value Assurance' activities (ie activities to improve confidence in the costs and benefits that sit in the Investment Case). On a practical level, the role will involve engaging with various members of the SMP management team and wider project team to ensure that plans are in place to assure the costs and benefits, both on the lead up to Gate C and beyond. A key asset that will be developed is a confidence map to provide stakeholders a clear view of the areas of certainty across the Investment Case. Other activities will include management of a threat and opportunity tracker (potential movements in costs and benefits), providing support to the CR process by helping to construct business cases and managing a set of trial requirements (to ensure trial learning objectives are aligned to Inv Case ambitions).

Experience/knowledge required:

General Skills:
Highly numerate and analytical, providing support to Investment Case lead and have end to end project life cycle knowledge, Industry knowledge & operational awareness, data analysis, stakeholder Management & excellent communication skills and progress reporting

Specific Skills:
Development and maintenance of large scale business cases, financial analysis (ability to convert operational insight into cost and benefit impact assessments)
