INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER - DV CLEARED.

DESCRIPTION:

As internal communications manager for the Organisation's HR section, you will be leading on communications for the section in which is responsible for managing 'people issues' and therefore affects everyone across the Organisation.

This is high-profile, challenging and rewarding role that will give you regular access to senior management and responsibility for managing significant communication to all employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a communications specialist with at least three years' experience of developing and delivering communications strategies. You should also have experience of managing a diverse range of projects and teams.

You will be advising the senior management group on communicating within the section as well as the wider organisation. You will be a strategic thinker, able to influence and advise at a senior level. Your work will involve a broad range of internal stakeholders so you should be able to understand and tackle the communications challenges this presents.

Main responsibilities include:

- Developing and implementing a communication plan
- Managing internal communications for the section so that the communications effort is managed, cohesive, and supports strategic objects.

This will include

- Delivering proactive internal communications campaigns to support business change and key programmes in a user-focussed and engaging way
- Keeping the Intranet presence up to date and using channels to share key updates and successes
- Co-ordinating the work of communications employees within the section and ensuring that a high corporate standard is maintained
- Supporting the sections Director to communicate within the Organisation
- Playing a role in the overall work of the internal communications team, so the sections communication is linked into the wider Organisation's communication planning and enables best use of corporate channels

SKILLS, ESSENTIAL OR DESIRABLE:

The job holder will demonstrate the core competencies, with an emphasis on the following:

- Work with policy colleagues in a timely way to examine and define policy issues to be supported. Develop measurable communications objectives to support the delivery of policy. Analyse and segment internal audiences to target communication effectively. Develop a strong understanding of different internal audiences. Use this knowledge to ensure the tone, language and format of internal communication is easily accessible to and read by a range of staff group

Ideas

- Establish two way and face to face communication channels where possible to build employee engagement. Reinforce these channels during organisational change

Implementation:

- Manage and co-ordinate all activity in internal communication plans, including deploying resources and managing risks. Provide support and clarification to managers to ensure they are confident in delivering key messages and to strengthen the internal communication cascade.

Impact

- Assess the effectiveness of internal communication and act on staff feedback to ensure communication is timely, relevant and meets the needs of the business and internal audiences. Explore employee engagement data to understand the context for internal communication, identify challenges and barriers, and suggest actions for improvement.

EXPERIENCE

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the essential experience of:

- Developing integrated internal or stakeholder communication strategies, drawing on the whole communication mix
- Helping clients define communication needs and advising on the most effective communication methods, channels and presentation
- Understanding and using internal communications as an influencer of employee engagement and business change
