This is a 12 month contract opportunity with potential to extend. Overview

Our client is seeking an Intermediate SCADA Analyst. You will be part of the Real Time System Team supporting a variety of critical and mission critical systems and the clients of those systems, including SCADA, Real Time Model, and Electronic Flow Measurement.Role and Responsibilities

In this role, the person will be responsible for maintenance, support, configuration and optimization of Real Time systems. Work will be performed as part of a team supporting SCADA, hydraulic models, Electronic Flow Measurement, PI data historian, Gas Management System, and HMIs.

You will learn and support other Real Time Systems for which the team is responsible.

Responsibilities could include: - Build effective working relationships with the business; understanding their issues, concerns and priorities.
- Identify and investigate areas that may require system solutions or improvements.
- Lead and/or participate in the analysis, configuration, modifying, testing, implementation, documentation and training of system functionality.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, security, and reliability of systems.
- Design/modify SCADA displays and reports, keeping with industry best practices for control room management.
- Configure and commission data points for new/modified facilities or data requirements.
- Participate in the 24 hour on-call rotation with other team members (average: 1 week every 5 -7 weeks).
- Collaborate and partner with other technical and business groups to provide the best overall solutions for the company and to ensure quality delivery.
- Follow standards and best practices in the delivery and maintenance of systems.
- Ensure that the hardware is properly maintained and operating below any thresholds that might cause problems.
- Create processes and procedures to ensure that the system is operating accurately and reliably.
- Back-up support for EFM and NR Green reporting.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all model input and output.
- Work with others on RTS team to cross train and be able to understand other RTS systems.
- Understand the data that all the systems use; understand the SCADA-RTM interface.
- Understand the business that the systems support and how the data is used in the daily business of operating a gas pipeline.
- Work with others in Gas Control to cross train and understand system operations.
- Participate in training Gas Control on RTM.
- Work inter-group technical initiatives.
- Enable offline-online information exchange.
- Support Gas Control with respect to Work Capacity and Operational Planning initiative.
- Administer all the vendor software the company is using, including license administration and version control.
- Responsible for file backup, maintenance and consistency.
- Follow IS model for Change Management.
- Recommend preferred solutions with alternatives and complete cost/benefit analysis.
- Identify the appropriate business and IS parties to involve when dealing with both new requirements and existing issues.
- Develop and support RTS custom applications.
- Maintain the operational data integration strategy following the deployment of these new tools.
- Understand business priorities and identify critical requirements.
- Identify the appropriate business and IS parties to involve when dealing with project initiatives.
- Create project schedules/plans and identify milestones in conjunction with the business requirements.

Qualifications

Required Skills - Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience.
- Experience with pipeline control systems is essential.
- Specific knowledge and experience in any or all of the following types of systems is an advantage: pipeline SCADA, pipeline hydraulic models, HMIs, data historians, electronic flow measurement, and gas management systems.
- Technology experience that could be an asset includes: Honeywell Experion, Gregg Engineering WinTran & WinFlow, OSIsoft PI, Bristol and Modbus and devices, distributed systems.
- An understanding of the gas and pipeline industries, technology life cycle, process, and change management.
- An understanding of SCADA communication to field metering, control and communication devices.
- Experience with protocols and Scripting languages.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with business partners, internal and external technical resources, project and technology managers.
