My Client, an NHS organisation based in London, requires an interim Education and Training Academy Manager for a period of 3-12 months, remunerated on an applicable day rate.

The Education and Training Academy is an education and workforce development resource set up to support the developing needs of general practice. As they look to their extended role in the future and more care moves out of hospital into the community more demands and new ways of working will require staff to become up skilled.

The education and training academy will plan, commission and develop educational activities as well as sign post people to programmes and develop the learning culture in practices in collaboration with the cluster development team. Across the locality providers of health and social care are also coming together to plan the workforce needs in an integrated health care future through the education provider networks.

The education and training academy will take its place at this table needing to supply workforce intelligence, provide a voice representing general practice and contributing to the development of multi-disciplinary learning within the education provider networks.

Specific requirements of the role, not already covered by the generic job description.

* To work in partnership with the GP Education Lead to develop the academy and the workforce in General Practices.

* To facilitate workforce transformation in general practice as the biggest enabler to the CCG's Primary Care Development Strategy

* To manage workforce development and workforce planning across practices.

* To facilitate general practice to identify and analyse workforce needs in terms of roles, skill mix and numbers for the future workforce

* To ensure the Workforce Development and Education Strategy delivers the workforce for staff within general practice in the future and follows the Primary Care Development Strategy

* To put in place plans that meet the workforce development needs working with the community education provider network to contribute to integrated workforce development plans across the locality and supporting the integrated care strategy.

* To develop and maintain a vision for education and training and workforce development across the practices including a commitment to development for all staff groups at every level, time investment in staff development and the development of the learning culture in practice.

* To support and contribute to the development of the education network and its activities as a partnering member and to represent the voice of general practice on that body.

* To influence providers of education and training to develop flexible ways of developing new knowledge and skills.

* To develop programmes of learning in conjunction with service leads that meet service needs in general practice

* To commission programmes of education and monitor contracts, maintaining dialogue with contracted providers and learners to ensure learners needs are met.

* To develop systems, processes and resources that support access to learning such as use of the webinar and blended learning approaches.

* To provide educational expertise to the planning, delivery and evaluation of training across practices, ensuring quality of provision.

* Demonstrate value for money and return on investment to practices through robust budget management, linking service, workforce and educational outcomes with learning activities, monitoring all value of education and training provided, not just that funded by the CCG eg keeping a record of any sponsorship

* Provide reports to the Primary Care Development and Transformation Committee on the academy's plans and performance as the biggest enabler to the strategy.
