Robert Half Management Resources are recruiting for an Interim General Manager, Cancer Services for an NHS Client based in Surrey.

As General Manager, Cancer Services you will support the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Operating on both an operational and strategic basis to deliver all cancer performance standards and directorate operational management functions.

THE ROLE

- To support the Trust and directorates in the delivery of commitments within the NHS Constitution.
- To lead on delivering and monitoring all cancer performance standards including Two Week Rule referrals, 31 day Treatment Targets and 62 Day Performance through the weekly performance meetings.
- To work collaboratively with other directorate teams to recover performance standards.
- To identify areas that will positively impact on the cancer patient Pathway/experience and in conjunction with the appropriate directorate(s), agree timeframes and responsibility for action.
- To work collaboratively across directorates to identify bottlenecks and delays using service improvement tools and techniques. In conjunction with the directorates, devise, agree, prioritise and enable service redesign work streams to address identified delays and achieve shorter clinical pathways in the best interest of patient care, safety and satisfaction.
- To ensure the analysis, investigation and reporting of capacity, demand and performance figures to relevant key stakeholders.
- To work in collaboration with Trust staff and external organisations, as appropriate, to prevent potential breaches.
- To provide expert advice on the cancer strategy and operational processes within the Trust.
- To ensure Trust compliance with the ABC Policy and cancer waiting time standards.
- To coordinate the cancer service data monitoring, administration, and MDT processes.
- To assist in ensuring a high level of accuracy, completeness and consistency when inputting inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic waiting time information for operational, information and management use.
- To be responsible for the cancer service budget.
- To work across boundaries to identify the systems and processes required to enable the service to proactively manage waiting times of patients across their entire Pathway.
- To work effectively with lead clinicians, managers and administrative staff towards common shared goals and work across service boundaries to resolve complex issues.
- To analyse referral pathways between primary, secondary and tertiary care providers within the area, assessing the impact of these pathways.
- To work closely with information staff to ensure that any new systems developed meet with local reporting requirements and that their use is Embedded in working practices.

YOUR PROFILE

- Master's degree or doctorate in management.
- Member of a clinical and/or management professional body.
- 3-5 years in project management, implementation of NHS strategy.
- Proven track record in Cancer Services and Pathways.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience in the Operations Management.
- Staff & project team selection, management and motivation.
- Experience of working with 18 Week initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication skills.
- Able to receive, negotiate and communicate complex, sensitive information where priority and certainty are at issue.
- Authoritative and credible delivery of information at senior/executive level.
- Highly developed keyboard and software application skills.
- Experienced MS Excel, word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret waiting list policy and cascade knowledge effectively to all staff.
- Knowledge of the EAT target and the effects this can have on 18 Weeks.
- 18 Week National Policy.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Interim General Manager, Cancer Services, based in Surrey. To start w/c 7th December 2014, £400 - £500 per day (via Ltd Company).
