INTERIM FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

LOCATION : Newport

DURATION: 12 months

Sopra Steria Recruitment Ltd (a Sopra Steria company) provides recruitment and resourcing solutions to Sopra Steria, a leading European IT service provider.

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: This is an exciting new opportunity for Interim Financial Controllerfor an initial 12 months assignment for one of Sopra Steria's clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for below mentioned duties/Responsibilities:

1. Strategic financial business partnering across operational business areas and functions

2. Cash flow forecasting, modelling and analysis

3. Management of the 2015/16 Budget

4. Mange the transition of the Client's financial system onto the latest Oracle platform

5. Presentation to and persuasion of senior management on financial aspects including the financial system.

- To ensure that robust and comprehensive forecasting and controls remain in place to manage the 2015/16 Resource and Capital budgets, engaging with HM Treasury officials throughout.
- To ensure that there is an appropriate hand-over period of responsibilities and that the new Deputy Director receives an excellent understanding of the organisation, its financial position, risks, issues and governance.
- From the 1 December, this temporary role will have no significant financial responsibility within the organisation and all delegated authority will be removed and temporarily transferred to the Head of Business Services.
- Escalation of any governance/delegated authority from the Head of Business Services will be to the Director of Finance.

6.Project Director Role for implementation of ERP System

- Ensure that the project has robust plans and resources in place to implement ERP system on the agreed date.
- To include system build, user acceptance testing, communications and stakeholder engagement.
- To ensure that regular updates and communication are provided to appropriate committees, including Business Group and Portfolio Scrutiny Committee.
- To ensure that stakeholders from across the organisation are engaged throughout the duration of the project and immediately post go live.
- To ensure an excellent relationship continues with system provider and any other appropriate third party suppliers, including senior management engagement.
- In conjunction with Commercial Services colleagues, continue discussions with systems provider with regards to commercial aspects of the project and with Cabinet Office, Crown Representatives and Crown Oversight Function to ensure we are able to support any other initiatives/programmes within Government.

7.Review of Information Technology Service Contracts

- To support the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the Chief Procurement Officer in reviewing all material contractual arrangements, recommending efficiencies and rationalisation where possible.
- To support the CTO to ensure that the expenditure on business as usual activities and projects/programmes is reported transparently following changes to the funding arrangements.

DESIRABLE/ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

PROFILE AND EXPERIENCE

- Qualified Accountant with relevant experience and proven track record of managing a significant budget within a large complex organisation, preferably public sector.
- Ability to translate and communicate complex financial data to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven track record of negotiating with large suppliers
- Significant experience of technical aspects of an ERP system ideally Oracle financial system
