STATUTORY ACCOUNTING/POLICY CONSULTANT

COVERAGE FOR DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING POLICY MATERNITY LEAVE

ASSIST EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING WITH STATUTORY FINANCIAL REPORTING

Will transition accounting policy work first in August and then focus on preparation of statutory filing in September/October

What I am really looking for is a talented team member who can assist us in filing our required statutory filings and overseeing our accounting policy team 

Responsibilities for Statutory Financial Reporting Role:
Responsible for compiling and reviewing the statutory financial statements for one of our regions.

THIS WILL INCLUDE INPUTTING/REVIEWING THE REQUIRED GAAP TO STAT ADJUSTMENTS AND COMPILING VARIOUS SCHEDULES REQUIRED FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE FILING.

Also includes clearing review notes, providing updates on status and potential insight into process improvements.

Responsibilities for Policy Role:
Monitors and oversees policy consultants with ongoing policy work to deliver policies before their expiration dates.

REVIEW POLICIES FOR CONSISTENCY, GRAMMAR, AND MAINTAIN CONFORMITY WITH NATIONAL POLICY GUIDELINES.

ASSIST WITH ESCALATION AND ISSUES, AS NEEDED.

FACILITATES THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW FINANCIAL POLICIES AND PERFORM PERIODIC CHANGE OR UPDATES TO EXISTING POLICIES.

PERFORMS RELATED RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS AS NEEDED.

Monitors the development and issuance of new accounting and auditing standards; determines applicability to our organization, and write or amend policy accordingly. Coordinates efforts with the national business leaders, national and regional governance and compliance leaders, training managers and other subject matter experts in writing policy and in identifying policy gaps.  

REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE FILING STATUTORY REPORTS

Detail oriented, organized and efficient.
Statutory accounting health annual statement preparation

FINANCIAL STATEMENT PREPARATION

REGULATORY EXPERIENCE

Strong organization skills
Positive, motivated, driven and great to work with.

EFREEDOM FOR STATUTORY FILING

MUST HAVE SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree required

CPA preferred
Min. 8-10 years applicable experience
Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables)
OneLink/PeopleSoft GL a plus
