Interim Economist

My Central Government client are looking for an Interim Economist to join a very busy change team at a crucial point.

Role:
The post-holder will need to work closely and effectively as members of the new implementation team, engaging with and providing analytical perspectives and advice on the full range of proposals and options for the business case. The post-holders should be able to demonstrate a willingness to, and preferably experience of, working closely with HMT.

The post-holders will need to quickly develop and maintain a solid grasp of the oil and gas sector(preferably previous experience of working in a similar role with knowledge of this sector although not essential) and of the full range of policy and analytical challenges.

The post-holders will also need to build and maintain productive relationships with other analysts, in particular economists.

Person Specification:

Essential

*Evidence of strong analytical and quantitative skills (with MSc background)
*Expertise applying analysis in a commercial, financial, consulting or public sector environment, (preferably with central government and oil and gas experience)
*Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think creatively and work independently
*Strong written communication skills, with proven ability to draft documents for senior managers and external audiences
*Strong research skills
*Expertise in statistics and/or modelling (eg probabilistic modelling, econometrics)

Desirable

*Expertise in regulatory, energy or competition economics
*Good knowledge of the oil and gas sector
*Previous experience of developing economic analysis for HMG business cases
