INTERIM DIRECTOR OF WORKFORCE AND TRANSFORMATION

JOB PURPOSE:
As a full voting member of the client Board of Directors, the Director of Workforce and Transformation will lead on an ambitious Transformation programme and develop a workforce strategy which supports and drives transformation.

The challenge and remit will be to inspire and drive modernisation and innovation to develop and transform our highly valued workforce.

The Director will work closely with the client Board to ensure that the organisational structure of the client - and the workforce capability within it - is designed to deliver the client's strategy and vision, with the patient placed firmly at the centre of this vision.

The Director will play a critical role in enabling the client to achieve change whilst maintaining and improving the quality of services. They will lead across the full portfolio of human resource management, and make a major contribution to organisation development and culture change.

DESCRIPTION

Qualifications and Training

- Higher degree and/or relevant management qualification
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

KNOWLEDGE:

- Knowledge of key current issues in the NHS
- Well developed leadership skills and emotional intelligence
- Strategic thinking and innovation
- Clear understanding of systems management
- Highly developed influencing, persuading and communication skills
- Able to get key messages across on complex issues
- Able to establish and maintain relationships with key people, both internally & externally
- Evidence of successful track record of achieving results in a senior leadership role

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

EXPERIENCE:

- Significant senior management experience in a large, complex organisation, operating at or close to Board level
- Significant experience in designing and delivering large scale transformation programmes
- Significant experience of leading and developing workforce and HR services:

- Workforce planning and design 
- Driving improved workforce productivity and supporting the successful delivery of cost improvement programmes and transformation programmes

- Staff Health and Wellbeing and Occupational Health 
- Equality and Diversity 
- Performance measurement and management 
- Workforce Metrics and reporting
- Experience of delivering against challenging performance targets, and of managing others to do so.
- Experience of delivering high levels of productivity and efficiency.
- Extensive experience of leading successful change in customer or patient centered service delivery
- Extensive experience of delivering demonstrably high quality services

PLANNING AND ORGANISING:

- Demonstrates an ability to prioritise own workload and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations

ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT:

- Analyses complex data obtained from several data sources in order to inform decision making up to Board level
- Highly numerate.
- Verbal reasoning to be commensurate with the needs of the role.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS:

- A highlight effective communicator, able to communicate with staff and stakeholders at all levels in the required context of the role.
- Able to present and receive complex information within a multi professional team.
- Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, customers and staff.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
- Demonstrates leadership in the management of change
