We are a proactive Finance team, partnering our operational colleagues in their work to deliver our £500m pa capital and opex programmes.

In the Financial Shared Service Centre, we aim to deliver 'Best in Class' Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial and Management Accounting services. We work within an integrated series of business processes supported by SAP which means that our teams need to really understand the underlying business processes they work with. This gives our people a unique chance to get close to the operational business and deliver real value to our colleagues. For the last two years, our cross functional teams have been shortlisted in Severn Trent company wide awards.

Key Accountabilities:
Establish and manage a separate backlog team to resolve blockages in certain income stream processes including capital scheme deposits and accounts receivable.
The work of this team will need to be scoped in detail and a resolution plan developed which obtains the buy in of key operational stakeholders.
Individual processes are to be transferred back to the core team when any issues in the underlying process have been resolved and backlogs have been eliminated
Deliver all aspects of project management including forecasting, reporting, communications and stakeholder management to drive execution of the agreed project plan
Develop and support the team through appropriate ongoing coaching and training to instil a culture of delivery to deadlines and targets, cross functional working and continuous improvement
Develop effective relationships and communication with the key stakeholders in the process, both within finance and the operational business, to ensure that all processes established are sustainable and meet the needs of both finance and the operational business
Develop appropriate SLAs and KPIs which use objective data to monitor performance both of the team and the wider process and use these to re-establish core processes and drive continuous improvement.
Experience:
Essential.
Project management, team leadership and staff management experience.
Knowledge of financial accounting including income recognition principles.
Experience of managing an Accounts Receivable team.
Expertise in process development and financial controls in ERP systems.
Experience of establishing working relationships with operational stakeholders within a short timescale.
Experience of establishing and managing project teams to address urgent issues

Desirable.
SAP experience, particularly FICO and Accounts Receivable modules

Excellent communication skills, able to communicate complex issues to a broad range of stakeholders.
Strong influencing skills together with the ability to work across cross functional teams.

Additional Information:
Note that this role will have a strong focus on SAP process improvement and will require intellectual agility to understand and revise the underlying capital income accounting and operational processes. It is not suitable for individuals who are looking for a role as a Credit Control Manager only.

Salary £250 per day
