Our client is a large Local Authority, seeking a highly experienced Assistant Director of Communications to lead strategic communications across the Council for the next 6 months. It is critical that candidates have a track record of dealing with highly complex stakeholder communications in extremely politically sensitive environments. The interim Director will implement a communications strategy and this will be both a strategic and operational role in terms of developing strong relations with regional media to manage the public profile of the organisation. We are specifically looking for a Public Sector background working at or to board level. Experience of working in a Ministerial context would be very useful also.

The timescales for this vacancy are very tight. Shortlisting is on Wednesday 19 August. Interviews will be held locally on Friday 21 and Monday 24 August and candidates need to be available to start work immediately after the Bank Holiday on a 4 or 5 day week basis.
