Interaction Designer Job

INTERACTION DESIGNER needed for a CONTRACT (POTENTIAL TO GO PERMANENT) opportunity with Yoh's client located in the ALBANY, NY.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Two (2) years experience in Interaction Design
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM or design
- Experience working in industrial engineering organizations

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Working under the direction of Sr. Product Manager for User Experience interaction designer will contribute to the design of new user interfaces for heavy-duty gas turbine operator interfaces, both for near term product release and forward-looking human machine interface (HMI) concepts.
- Interface with controls engineers and operators of to collaboratively define user interaction requirements for human-machine interfaces.
- Guided by - and extending - HMI existing HMI standards, create UI wireframes and mockups.
- Iteratively validate the designs with controls engineers, users and UX leadership.
- Collaborate with visual designer and HMI developers to guide and validate the visual design and implementation of the UI on HMI platform.
- Document interaction design guidelines and validation results.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's Degree in Design (eg interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial) or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
- A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in interaction design.
- Knows how to select and apply the appropriate participatory user research, design and validation techniques depending on the user type and design objectives.
- Understands the value and activities associated with getting feedback for design ideas from users and stakeholders.
- Familiar with different ways of representing UI design at different levels of fidelity
- Understands how company-wide UI standards are integrated into product management and software development.
- Has experience working with industrial engineering organizations/customers or can demonstrate the ability to very quickly learn about new technical domains.

- Understands user centric design process and how to deliver highly effective customer solutions.
- Understands key cross-functional concepts that impact the UI design.
- Understands key principles of design thinking, what it is and why it is important. Explores all ideas, regardless of their source.
- Can assist with developing project plans for UI research and design.
- Communicates clearly the purpose and desired outcomes of meetings.
- Understands the purpose and role of user experience within a larger collaborative work ecosystem and actively considers the needs and constraints of other parties when making design decisions.
- Engages with product managers, engineers, and other members of the UX team in discussions; Uses body language to signal undivided attention in collaboration settings.
