SOUTHAMPTON
An Instrument & Control Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and technical support on all matters concerning control systems and instrumentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO)...
- Provide professional technical recommendations on instrument infrastructure and technology issues.
- Provide professional instrument engineering for projects & minor betterment's.
- Provide daily and long term support to the Operations and Maintenance Departments
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- The Instrument and Control Engineer should have a sound understanding of relevant instrumentation International Standards Practices.
- Should be familiar with the "Electricity at Work Regulations 1989" and any other UK or Company Legislation covering the use of instrumentation in hazardous areas or for plant protection.
- A detailed knowledge and understanding of sizing and selecting instrumentation is essential and basic knowledge of chemical engineering, fluid properties/dynamics and material technology.
- Should have an understanding of the various electrical signal types and transmission mediums used by instrumentation and a knowledge of low voltage electrical distribution networks, together with practical experience of cable fuse sizing and protection co-ordination.
- Should have experience of commissioning and supporting PLC installations
- Should have good communication skills and a strong interest in the control and instrumentation technology field and be able to exploit developments in control and instrumentation technology in order to enhance the plant performance and integrity.
