Projektbeschreibung

Institute Sr Rsch Scientist in vitro
Job Location: Houston, TX

Description - Overview
MD Anderson is known for providing cancer patients with exceptional care, which includes early access to innovative new treatments through clinical trials. The Institute for Applied Cancer Science (IACS) is a new hybrid model that uniquely combines the drug discovery capabilities of the biopharmaceutical industry and the extensive knowledge of biology found in academia with the expertise of MD Anderson's top clinicians. IACS has the singular goal of rapidly developing novel, effective and safe therapeutics that improve patient health. IACS executes programs with the highest probability of clinical success in a rigorous, goal-oriented, data-driven manner. We are seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented individual to join our in vitro Pharmacology group to support our fast-paced drug discovery programs.

1. Coordinating and taking responsibility for the development, optimization, validation, implementation, and execution of biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays for medium and high-throughput screening to support target validation and lead optimization in small molecule drug discovery projects.

2. Implementing novel in vitro screening strategies; planning and executing screens and counter screens for drug discovery programs.

3. Fully characterizing the mechanism of action and kinetics of lead molecules using state-of-the-art biochemical and biophysical techniques.

4. Contributing to project teams through lab-based activities.

5. Monitoring assay quality and successfully troubleshooting issues with assay performance.

6. Building strong interactions with internal and external medicinal chemistry, DMPK, program biology, and structural biology groups.

7. Transferring assays to collaborators and CROs.

8. Seeking out and implementing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to provide new solutions to drug discovery programs.

9. Participating in cross-functional research to translate discoveries into novel oncology therapeutics, and seeking opportunities where the in vitro Pharmacology group can impact projects.

10. Working closely with research project teams to identify and recommend opportunities for clinical therapeutic drug development.

11. Providing expertise and guidance to IACS members. Function as a mentor to associate scientists.
