Background
Our Central Government Client is currently recruiting for an Insolvency Paralegal for an initial 2 month contract). Their Insolvency Litigation Unit is a busy team of 50 administrators. The unit handles all our clients Insolvency matters from receiving instructions from office Debt Management and Banking through to drafting and filing a petition at Court, sending the petition for service, dealing with advertising in the newspaper for company matters, and finally for bankruptcy taking the hearing in the London High and County Courts and for Company winding up instructing counsel and accompanying them to the weekly court. They have a technical team which then manages the more complex cases such as annulments applications, directions, set asides etc. At this stage we are only able to accept applications via the job board, we cannot accept emailed or phoned applications.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
Your prime responsibility for this role would be to draft insolvency petitions. The unit receives 34 new cases a day. The processes and IT systems used for drafting petitions are different between company winding up and bankruptcy. You will begin by learning one insolvency regime and when competent will be trained in the other. This helps build a multi skilled workforce. You may also be required on occasion to assist with some of the support functions within the team. You will receive training.

Outputs/Deliverables to be achieved
Company winding up - within 2 weeks you should be producing 6- 8 petitions per day as these can vary in complexity dependent on the number of taxes involved within the petition. Bankruptcy petitions are a simpler process involving less taxes and once trained and competent you should output 14 - 16 per day. You will have access to an experienced trainer and your work will be quality checked daily for a number of weeks until your work is accurate. Attention to detail is essential.

Skills/Experience Required
1 High level of competence with IT, ability to learn quickly and proficient typing skills highly desirable
2. Personal organisation, self motivation and high degree of initiative
3. Experience of team working essential

Formal Qualifications Required
1. Minimum
2.1 Law degree (highly desirable)
