Ink Engineer

FOR OUR CLIENT IN THE R&D INDUSTRY WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN INK ENGINEER

START DATE: ASAP

DURATION: 6 months (extension)

LANGUAGE: Dutch & English

LOCATION: Venlo

The teams are, as part of the R current project focus is on the optimization and finalization of the ink design to prepare a solid transfer to industrial production.

Goal of the role

We are searching for a widely employable materials engineer who can support to our project team by execution of the materials related parts of our engineering program, comprising;

- Recipe specification, eg determination of the critical dosing limits for the ink components (recipe tuning may be necessary to become less sensitive for dosing errors and/or raw material batch variations)
- Raw materials specification and determination of the influence of raw material batch variation on ink functionality.
- If required, the development and implementation of special test methods to safeguard the functional requirements of ink and/or raw materials
- Extensive ink testing, also on print systems, to trace and solve failure modes. In eventual cases this could lead to the need for a recipe correction, which may need practical support as well.
- Determination of the effects of storage time and temperature on ink properties and functionality; specification of the shelf life.

Note: An engineering program to achieve the optimal ink production process (component mixing order, mixing times, temperatures, etc.) is running in parallel to the materials related work described above. Depending on the candidate's abilities and experience, this could bring in some additional activities.

If you are experienced in mixing components in the following industries: cosmetics, paint, foods/drinks, recipes, pharmaceutical; That would be an asset.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

- Candidate has a BSc in Chemistry
- At least 10 years of work experience. Ideally, the candidate has experience with formulation and/or industrialisation of mixtures (in eg painting industry or cosmetics).Experience with working in a multi-disciplinary team is a plus
- Knowledge of and experience with components, commonly used in (inkjet) inks is beneficial but not mandatory
- To be successful the candidate is self employed, accurate, analytical, persistent and has a hands-on mentality
