Infrastructure Systems Analyst (2nd/3rd line) Contract 6 months

Our client's mission is "make investing easier" for our customers and the investors they serve.

Position: Systems Infrastructure Analyst
Location: Chelmsford
Duration: 6 month contract
Salary: £350 per day

ROLE:
The Systems Infrastructure Analyst is required to provide second and third line technical support to our client's users and systems. This analyst is focused on either Wintel OR Network support to expert level but maintains a working awareness and at least basic troubleshooting skills in both. The role requires an aptitude for working with both 3rd party and in-house applications. To undertake analysis, diagnosis and resolution of user and system problems, which may range from the straightforward to complex, time consuming technical issues. Of paramount importance is the ability to take responsibility for issue resolution either through to completion or escalation to more experienced members of the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Ensure Wintel based systems are positioned to deliver the IT strategy.
b) 3rd line fault resolution for issues affecting client experience and system performance.
c) Specifying, building, updating/maintaining/securing and decommissioning Servers in line with policy and relevant standards.
d) Active Directory administration including group policy creation and maintenance. Administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of Microsoft, VMware, McAfee and other 3rd party applications. Email (exchange and mail gateway) administration, troubleshooting and maintenance.
e) SAN administration, troubleshooting and maintenance. SQL Database administration.
f) Ensure network and telephony systems are positioned to deliver the IT strategy.
g) 3rd line fault resolution for issues affecting client experience and network performance.
h) Specifying, building, updating/maintaining/securing and decommissioning network equipment in line with policy and relevant standards.
i) Switch, Router, Firewall and VPN administration, troubleshooting and maintenance. Cisco telephony systems administration, troubleshooting and maintenance. Monitoring systems administration, troubleshooting and maintenance. Network link administration, troubleshooting and maintenance. PKI administration, troubleshooting and maintenance.
j) Regular checks of critical systems, resolving issues as required.
k) Diagnosing and replacing faulty hardware. Moving client machines and IT equipment to accommodate office moves. Owning, progressing, and completing Infrastructure projects. Arranging and managing software and hardware trials.
l) Investigating security alerts. Perform desktop support duties and tasks when cover is required. Troubleshooting security patching. Troubleshooting VPN access.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Have relevant Microsoft (MCP/MCTS) (Associate Level) certifications.
b) Good level of GCSE qualification or equivalent.
c) 200+ server environment on more than one site.
d) Multiple Forest, Domain and Site Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003+, DFS, NTFRS and DFSR, Microsoft Windows Server 2003+, Microsoft IIS 6+, SAN, Centrally Managed Backup Software, HP Server Hardware, Vmware Vsphere.
e) Multi-tier Network Infrastructure on more than one site.
f) Multi-vendor Internetworking.
g) Cisco Call manager 6+ and Unity 7+, IP Telephone support, Cisco Switches, Routers and Firewalls, Juniper Firewalls.
h) Network Performance monitoring software, Network Event logging software, Two Factor Authentication software.
i) Voice Gateways and ISDN.
j) VTP, Spanning Tree, MGCP, BGP, EIGRP.
k) Cisco Contact Centre.
l) Video Conferencing.
m) Application Load Balancers.
n) Client TCP/IP troubleshooting, testing and cabling.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
b) Centrally Managed Antivirus Software.
c) Clearswift Web and SMTP gateways.
d) Doubletake.
e) Microsoft SQL Server 2008+.
f) RAS Tokens.

You may have experience of the following:
Network Analyst, Wintel Analyst, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Support Engineer, IT Support, Network Administrator, etc.
