INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT LEAD HOUSTON, TX 6 MONTH CONTRACT

JOB SUMMARY:

Implements and supports server and network infrastructure. Pivotal role in upgrade project that will result in all new server, SAN and VMWare infrastructure as well as establishment of DR capabilities.

JOB ELEMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Build, develop, and maintain Windows and some Linux systems, storage area network and VMWare environment.
- Manage and monitor server backups, perform data recoveries.
- Maintain an updated inventory of server equipment.
- Create and maintain server documentation and performance metrics.
- Manage AD Group Policies and tools.
- Manage all aspects of server installations, reconfigurations and upgrades.
- Create and maintain disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure stable performance for the environment; undertake performance monitoring/analysis, identifies and resolves bottlenecks, resolves problems, and produces performance reports for management; provides business application users and management with a well-tuned server environment.
- Provide appropriate systems engineering hardware/software resources for business applications on Servers; perform capacity planning.
- Provide business systems team with resources for their tactical requirements.
- Ensure infrastructure is maintained at the highest level of support; works in accordance with procedures and provides reliable and secure system for business applications.
- Assist application developers in engineering, problem determination, system and application tuning, and consultation on new projects; provide technical systems engineering assistance to application development groups.
- Ensure the environment is updated with current, stable versions of software products; maintain currency with operating system and support software; plan and implement major software upgrades; ensure change and security management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed; provide a current, well-managed operating environment.
- Carry out work in accordance with systems engineering standards and program documentation requirements.
- Provide on-call support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical:

- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or Information Systems and/or 5 to 7 years equivalent work experience
- Strong working experience with Microsoft infrastructure components a must
- Familiarity with the planning, design, engineering, implementation and operations of VMware, Active Directory, Windows Servers/Desktops platforms, SQL Server and networking technologies such as WAN, LAN, Wireless Network, Firewalls, Switches and Routers
- Good track record of demonstrated Engineering and Architecture capabilities. Strong ability to work with and leverage business partners on engineering the best solutions
- Microsoft certification preferred - MCSE on Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012
- Expertise in managing a virtualized environment comprised of VMware, blade Servers and SAN storage
- In-depth experience with the system design and administration in the following:
- Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server Operating Systems (including MS clustering technology)
- SQL Server
- Windows 2003/2008/2012 Active Directory
- Experience with the system design and administration in the following: VMware ESX 4.x & 5.x, IIS 7.5, GPO administration, design and management
- SAN Storage Design/Administration Experience DELL Compellent experience ideal.
- Proficiency with Internet and infrastructure protocols and standards including: TCP/IP, ICMP, SMTP, IMAP, POP3, MAPI, DNS, WINS, CIFS, DHCP, LDAP, FTP, etc.
- Firm understanding of Windows security including file system permissions, file sharing, event logging, performance monitoring and disk administration
