JOB DESCRIPTION:
My client is looking for an Infrastructure Specialist to start working in their Dublin office as soon as possible.
The primary role of the Infrastructure Specialist is to support the Global Windows/Linux/VMWare/SAN environments for the company. Day to day responsibilities will be to resolve calls, incidents and problems using the Unicenter Service Desk call logging tool.
Will be responsible for the implementation of Windows changes from a defining, planning, communication and implementation aspect.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the centralisation of Servers into the company's Data Centres by migrating Servers and services into the consolidated environment
- Windows 2000/2003/2008 server administration including Active Directory
- Linux Redhat server support
- VMware 4.1/5.0 support and administration
- SAN fabric support
- Plan, develop, install and maintain the supported environments
- Comply, develop and adhere to all key support processes
- Develop and maintain support documentation in accordance with company standards
- Managing administrative duties and ticket documentation effectively and in a proactive way
- Advise on tools, best practice techniques and methodologies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Windows server administration in enterprise environment including Active Directory (MCSE Level)
- Linux Redhat Enterprise server administration
- Strong knowledge of VMWare ESX Enterprise
- Strong knowledge of SAN technologies including Fibre Channel, Fabric Zoning and LUN mapping
- Strong knowledge of backup technology - IBM TSM an advantage
- Experience of working in an enterprise computing environment
- Strong knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and practices
- Knowledge of current technologies in accordance with this role
- Demonstrable experience with pro-actively managing work and addressing and prioritising demands
- Strong working knowledge of current and emerging trends
- Fluent in business English language - written and verbal
- Experience in managing workload and prioritise without supervision. This includes an ability to balance multiple high priority requests
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRABLE:
- Scripting knowledge (VBScript, CMD Shell, Power Shell, Batch Scripting)
- Demonstrable experience of automation of monitoring and repeatable processes
- Knowledge of good security principles particularly related to the windows and application environment
- Knowledge of Project Management methodology
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree educated or experience led equivalent
- ITIL foundation
- A recognised technical qualification (MCSE administration Levels) or at least 5 years relevant experience
- Demonstrable understanding and several years' experience of operations management requirements
