Infrastructure Software Engineer

My client is currently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join a small team of specialists in the domain of Infrastructure Software.

The role is dedicated to the support and development of mission critical Infrastructure Services for a 24x7 operation.

The role will also play a critical part in a transformation to Infrastructure as a Service and Cloud IT services as well as encompassing the operation of traditional, on premise technologies.

The role has responsibility for the effective operation and evolution of core software technologies including Microsoft Server Operating System and Active Directory, messaging and collaboration tools, security, remote access and other edge technologies. Other responsibilities include managing performance and capacity, operating patching and maintenance regimes, resolving incidents and contributing to root cause analysis. The role will work with other IT teams to deliver exacting levels of reliability and performance for the in-scope services.

Principal accountabilities:

* Provide technical expertise for in-scope technology platforms whether hosted on premise or in the cloud
* Work with IT Operations Centre to provide second and third line support services - own issues associated with in-scope technologies and support IT Operations Problem Management to manage problems through to resolution
* Maintain a monitoring regime such that technologies are monitored for availability, capacity, performance and events in accordance with IT standard frameworks
* Operate patching and upgrade regimes to ensure technologies are current and secure
* Develop and maintain documentation and operational procedures required to sustain the operation of in-scope services
* Maintain technical standards for all in-scope technologies
* Work with Change Management to assess and analyse risk associated with any change to in-scope technology platforms
* Contribute to the design, test and implementation of new solutions where change is required to in-scope technology

Experience Essentials:

Significant expertise in installation, configuration, administration, patching, upgrade and problem resolution in a broad range of the following technologies: Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012 and Active Directory, VMWare, DNS and DHCP services, Configuration Management (SCCM), Microsoft Exchange 2010, Microsoft Sharepoint 2013, Remote desktop services (RDS 2012) and including Microsoft UAG and Direct Access, security

Desirable:

·Experience of Red Hat Linux

·Experience of Infrastructure as a Service providers such as Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure

·Experience of 24x7, mission critical environments

·Experience of the aviation industry and aviation solutions

·Understanding of complex and highly integrated IT environments

·Knowledge of Service Monitoring Techniques

·Citrix, Edge technologies

·Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)

·Office365 equivalents

·technologies including Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Radius and SecureID

·Good understanding of core network principles and technologies including Wi-Fi
