INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICE MANAGER is urgently required for a long-term contract position with a major blue chip client in a great location

Key skills

SKILLS

- Broad understanding of IT datacenter infrastructure (operating systems, virtualisation, Servers, storage, SAN, networking).
- Experience in IT datacenter operations. Past systems administration experience is an asset.
- Excellent technical knowledge of some of the main technologies involved: Linux, VMware, Windows, Solaris.
- Very good communicator, able to discuss on a technical level with technicians, and on a management level with managers.
- Responsible and reliable, with initiative, able to take ownership of files and drive them forward.
- Methodical, good planner, attentive to detail.

This is not a direct hands-on position, system administration tasks are performed by other teams.

Tasks

C3.OCP is the sector of DIGIT that manages Linux, Solaris and Windows Servers, as well as virtualisation in the datacentre.

The person will assist EC officials of this sector in some of their tasks, including:

- Understand the services provided by the sector, help customers use them, propose improvements.
- Review non-standard requests from customers, analyse them and propose solutions.
- Follow IT operations, help coordinate non-standard activities, identify and escalate issues when necessary.
- Manage infrastructure capacity: calculation of capacity usage, needs.
- Generic ad-hoc reporting (write incident reports, provide statistics, verify support coverage).
