Projektbeschreibung
Infrastructure Architecture, for a new project based in Belgium. English speaking.
The project aims to conduct a technology roadmap assessment, with the infrastructure workstream covering the following activities:
- Review the current infrastructure strategy and infrastructure blueprint, with a particular focus on strategic platforms and potential use of cloud computing
- Review the infrastructure estate, with a particular focus on the appropriateness, suitability and cost efficiency of the current product selection and technical architectures
- Identify areas for improvement, and make (appropriately justified/supported) recommendations
We require an Infrastructure Architecture SME to support the following areas within this project:
- Telco - high-level strategy review
- Midrange/Unix - detailed strategy review of storage, overall system architecture, backup & archiving, DRP and virtualisation. Mid-level review of the Middleware-layer (ESB, Jboss, etc). Additional attention needs to be given to the security aspects of the infrastructure with a high-level review of the zoning principles and system security.
- Windows - mid-level strategy review
- Client and software distribution - mid-level strategy review of the application life cycle
The responsibilities of the Infrastructure Architecture SME will be to conduct the roadmap assessment for the areas above. This will involve activities such as:
- Discovery activities, such as client workshops and document reviews
- Collation of existing inventories, designs and reports to form a single view of the current state
- Evaluation of key sizing and maturity metrics against industry benchmarks and good practices
- Analysis of the client's proposed technology strategy and target architectures for Servers, storage, database and Middleware
- High-level assessment of the current Networks and End-User Computing estate
- Development of recommendations to address any risks or issues identified in the target strategy, processes and architectures
- Contribution to the high-level modelling of the financial impact of the recommendations
Strong infrastructure architecture skills, including detailed knowledge of:
- Servers (midrange, Intel)
- Virtualisation
- Storage
Ability to think and communicate strategically, including areas such as:
- Technology roadmaps
- Cloud adoption (including risks, security implications, transition approach etc)
- Vendor selection
- Consolidation opportunities
- Operational implications
Understanding of other infrastructure areas:
- Networks & telecoms
- Client/end-user computing, including Citrix/Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
- Software packaging & distribution
Data discovery - interviewing, document analysis
