Infrastructure Architect (Unix) - Investment Banking - London

Infrastructure Architect (Unix, SAN Storage) required by large Investment Bank, based in London to work on various projects within the Risk IT Technical Book of Work programme, aimed at improving stability, efficiency, capacity and scalability of critical data collation and reporting systems.

You should have recent and extensive Investment Banking exposure coupled with developing technical infrastructure solutions within large financial services. Knowledge of several elements of the IT infrastructure eg UNIX operating systems, databases and SAN Storage. Excellence in Unix environments, knowledge of Shell Scripting and common Unix tools. The ability to promote best technical architecture design practice with project teams and work at a fast pace in a dynamic team and adapt style to ensure the project is successful.

Within this role you will provide analysis and design skills, aiming to deliver long term strategic solutions for capacity and scalability of the IT infrastructure. Establish and drive tactical and strategic technical project plans and initiatives. Determine and utilise automation technology and processes to optimize costs. Conduct regular reviews analysing growth predictions from new projects and forecast business growth. This will involve interviewing business and IT project teams. Results of this analysis will then need to be assessed against current systems capacity with the candidate coming up with recommendations for system changes and upgrades. Storage management: take control of the storage issues and eliminate risks around storage capacity.
