Infrastructure Architect

IQ Public Sector is looking for a Infrastructure Architect.

This is a 6 month minimum contract though there is a very good chance of extension there after to 12 months.

This will be working for a World renowned University based in London.

1.The Infrastructure Architect will have experience of providing IT service within a large organisation where high quality infrastructure is essential for the continued operation of the business.

2.The Infrastructure Architect will have In depth knowledge and practical experience of contemporary infrastructure platforms and software at an enterprise level; including datacentres, SANs, hypervisors, firewalls, backup libraries. Candidates should have an extensive post technical library of knowledge in these areas.

Ideally the Infrastructure Architect will have experience with at least 3 of the following:

- IBM and/or Lenovo compute infrastructure (Blades and Bladecenters)
- IBM SVC storage virtualisation
- IBM v7000 storage
- Cisco Nexus
- TSM backup software and typical tape backup infrastructure
- SRM or other VM orchestration such as Zerto
- F5, Netscaler or similar load balancing infrastructure
- Colocation facility management
- Virtual machine migration: V to V ESXi

3.The Infrastructure Architect will have experience of communicating and documenting complex technical issues and designs in a simple, concise and well-structured manner to a wide variety of audiences ranging from deeply technical staff to non-technical customers.
4.The Infrastructure Architect will have experience of writing quality high-level and low-level design documents , often with input from large teams. Needs to be an expert in Word, Visio and ideally more advanced modelling tools. Should also be adept at presenting to all audience types.
5.The Infrastructure Architect will have experience of working in and leading large virtual teams on project based work.
6.The Infrastructure Architect will have excellent written and verbal communication skills at both technical and non-technical level including the ability to produce technical documentation and high and low level designs.
7.The Infrastructure Architect will have ability to work under pressure, deal methodically with complex technical issues and devise novel solutions to non-standard problems at short notice.
8.The Infrastructure Architect will have ability to consider a large number of potentially conflicting requirements and understand how they can be met with the most appropriate simple design, with the ability to support these design decisions to the most senior stakeholders within the organisation.
9.Balancing performance, resilience, cost

Desirable

1.The Infrastructure Architect will have experience of campus/academic networks and connecting networks to JANET.
2.Practical experience of planning and implementing a Enterprise quality Virtual server infrastructure over multiple data centres.
