Infrastructure Architect

INFRASTRUCTURE ARCHITECT

The Infrastructure Architect must possess an in depth knowledge of desktop and terminal services technologies and protocols with a good understanding of wider IT technologies.

There may be a requirement for the Infrastructure Architect to provide leadership and/or line management for one or more team members for designated project work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide architectural governance for Infrastructure standards and guidelines.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that the architectures balance functional, service quality and systems management requirements as indicated by the systems and service requirements.
- Infrastructure design; leads the development of component specifications and detailed designs from infrastructure architectures.
- Establishes policy for the selection of infrastructure architecture components.
- Co-ordinates design activity between other architecture, application and service delivery functions to ensure consistency.
- Communicates effectively with contacts at all levels.
- Helps to develop systems architecture strategy in an organisation.
- Engage with Solution Architects for proactive solution design.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- Redhat Linux 6.3/6.4
- Apache Web Server
- Proficient in infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) used within own organisation.
- Methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of technical diagrams, test plans, business cases and any other key deliverables.
- Proficient in product evaluation and selection. The analytical comparison of infrastructure based products against specified criteria to determine the best solution to the business need.
- Detailed knowledge of the customers (internal or external) technical infrastructure.
- Must be a team player and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
