JOB PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the role is to support the Market Units in their adoption and demonstration of IG best practice and continuous improvement in IG Toolkit scores.

This is a critical leadership role with a strong focus on knowledge and skills transfer, which will help position the company become a world leader in the quality of clinical data and the achievement of improvement targets set by the businesses.

A key outcome from this role in 2014 is that the revised company IG Toolkit has been implemented, Company-wide, providing a standardised approach to monitoring risk and an acknowledged methodology for demonstrating continuous improvement; and

Market Units and Business Units have been supported in their plans to implement Information Governance controls in preparation for full ownership of second line information governance assurance in 2015.

There is a strong requirement for collaborative working relationships, deep understanding of the Market Units, and the nuances of different market and cultural requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

- Provide operational support to enable Market Units to demonstrate effective use of the IG Toolkit.
- Go-to person for new and existing individuals in the interpretation of IG requirements and their application to respective Corporate Centre, Market Unit and Business Unit initiatives.
- Assist Market Units in identifying and developing the independent audit (2nd line) assurance capability.

o Provide subject matter expertise to MU governance teams on the best practice requirements for confidentiality, IG and data protection compliance.

o Contribute to Market Unit ownership of IG Toolkit assurance and reporting processes.

- IG Toolkit assurance system currency and relevance, thereby ensuring IG system design reflects jurisdictional changes and trends.
- Conduct research into confidentiality and data protection legislation, build networks and external stakeholder relationships to ensure knowledge is current, communicate requirements and standards in a timely way with internal stakeholders when changes occur and to inform new business initiatives and acquisitions.
- Advise on optimal organisational structures, roles and accountabilities to support the Market Units current and emerging IG assurance frameworks.
- Actively participate in external IG communities globally to showcase the company's IG leadership.
- Contribute proactively to improved IG Toolkit audit performance.
- Identify areas of personal growth and development, actively participate in development opportunities and ensure knowledge base stays current.
- Contribute to the development of Corporate Centre, Market Unit and Business Unit IG strategy ad associated policy as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

- Educated to degree level
- Solid experience in health information governance management
- Experience of communicating complex concepts in a stimulating and commercially relevant way to a geographically dispersed, multi stakeholder organisation.
- Experience in applying information governance knowledge and understanding in a commercial environment.
- Demonstrable experience in developing others
- Demonstrable experience in influencing senior stakeholders
- Ability to manage own workload and within a framework set by the manager to prioritise.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate high levels of information and identify key issues and trends.
- An understanding of the impact of change on the organisation and people
