Information Officer - Freedom of Information - Data Protection - Legislation

My client requires an Information Officer to supporting the Information Governance Unit by providing advice and guidance when managing requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection Act.

The post holder will be a highly motivated individual who is able use their initiative to work independently and also work well with teams to ensure Information Governance is Embedded within the organisation. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels, have the ability to prioritise a busy and complex workload to deadlines.

PERSON SPECIFICATION  

- Knowledge and experience of providing advice and guidance on Data Protection, Freedom of Information and related Legislation is essential.
- Knowledge of Freedom of Information and Data Protection exemptions is essential
- Knowledge and experience of developing information sharing protocols with services and partners
- Knowledge and awareness of the implications of local, regional and national, initiatives in relation to Data Protection, Freedom of Information and related legislation
- Ability to deal sensitively and discretely with confidential matters with an appreciation of confidentiality requirements within the workplace
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment to manage workloads, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to proactively solve problems
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing with colleagues at all levels
- Competent in the use of IT systems
