Information/Network Security Expert

We are currently recruiting for an Information/Network Security Expert to join our client located in Brussels, Belgium on a six (6) months contract (possible extension). The ideal candidate must be Fluent in either Dutch or French, with at least excellent understanding of the other language.

You are:
- A network security engineer with broad, solid network knowledge and a profound expertise in network security protection solutions using Palo Alto.
- Familiar with designing, implementing and operating them.

The task:
- You will work in a team responsible for the installation, management and maintenance of the central and remote network, network security, and telecom and data centre infrastructure.
- In this position, you, along with the team, are responsible for the management and maintenance of the network security infrastructure. For the installation and development of this infrastructure you will work closely with fellow network, systems and application engineers, architects, designers and project managers.
- In addition to the specific network and network security knowledge, a good general understanding of IT is required. You manage stress well, are able to respond to critical situations, work well both autonomously and in team, and you have good organisation skills.
- In collaboration with the other team members you can be asked to assure the network guard service for urgent problems.
- You will be managing the network and network security solutions for an environment of more than 1,200 (mostly virtual) Servers, a WAN of 1,500 locations with over 35,000 end points, at one of the largest IT environments in Belgium.

Role description:
1. Implementation of new systems and solutions (in collaboration with colleagues, project managers, customers, IT Security, and suppliers) to continuously improve and develop the IT infrastructure of the client or to meet project requirements.

This includes in particular the following tasks:
- Provide input to the project like determining the necessary scope, cost, time and resources
- Participate in the design and ensure that the delivered designs are aligned
- Evaluate the impact
- Development of procedures and processes
- Document, plan and execute complex technical implementations taking into account the defined service levels (hours, disaster recovery, and availability)
- Monitor the implementation of solutions
- Delivery of the build and component documentation

2. Ensure the proper technical operation of the network and security infrastructure.
This includes in particular the following tasks:
- Maintain the network and network security services and ensure it's up and running
- Monitor and manage the various subdomains of the system for applications, systems and end users
- Perform proactive analysis
- Solve operational and complex problems, document the analysis results and solution approach and inform engineers or users about issues and breakdowns
- Organise brainstorming to find solutions.
- Prepare, document, implement and verify changes (configuration updates and upgrades) and communicate on the planned works
- Formulate, document and implement proposals for improvements of procedures, processes and tools
- Assist and train network security engineers
- Solid experience in Network Security solutions design involving the following technologies:
- Firewall and VPN (eg Palo Alto and Juniper)
- IDS/IPS (eg HP Tipping Point)
- Proxies (forward, reverse) (eg Bluecoat)
- Cryptography (PKI, SSL interception)
- Authentication services (eg Radius, Tacacs, AD, ADFS, SAML)
- Remote access solutions (eg Pulse Secure SSL VPN)
- Application delivery controller
- Mail security (eg McAfee)
- Able to perform Network Security assessments on the above mentioned technologies.
- Solid knowledge on network security principles and protocols used in WAN and LAN's, DMZ, Internet security, remote access, network segregation.
- Solid network background: switching, routing (eg Cisco), network sniffing and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with Firewall policies creation, optimization and auditing tools (eg Algosec).
- Experience with malware and threat analysis, security logging and SIEM tools.
- Education: Bachelor or Master degree

Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant operational experience:
- Firewall: Palo Alto
- Malware, email, IDS, IPS and DDOS protection solutions (eg McAfee, Wildfire, Fireye, and Arbor)
- Blue Coat forward and reverse proxies
- Cryptography (PKI, SSL interception)
- Algosec (AFA and other)
