Information Architect/Ontologist

Escape the Winter and come work in New Zealand for 3 months.

You will be working for this central government agency that is charged with managing New Zealand's natural, historic and cultural heritage on behalf of all New Zealanders.

Over the Summer this organisation aims to create ontology (a conceptual domain model) for the Department, covering our major entities, their attributes and information relationships and the systems which manage them.

We are looking for an information specialist to create the ontology with specified outputs (eg XML outputs, diagrams, transformations and/or loaded into specific ontology and taxonomy management tools eg Smartlogic, ConceptSearching or Protégé)

You will work under the direction of the organisations Information Architect (IA) to continue work already initiated.

Our client estimates that this will require 3 months of effort. You would be based primarily in National Office with some travel to selected area offices required, as well as interaction with selected external stakeholders and partners.

The preferred start date is January 2013.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ontologist or information architect with very extensive experience in consulting or contracting to government or conservation or science agencies
- Experience in information disciples such as records management, publishing, web publishing, taxonomy management highly desirable
- Experience with ontology management tools
