Information Analyst

Electronically create and update new and revised information to be delivered to dealers, customers, and others in print, CD-Rom, or via the Authoring System. Provides direction to the Illustrators.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of assigned information elements and for completing assigned work by established deadlines.
- Expected to achieve accuracy and completeness with limited Senior Author involvement.
- Follows guidelines to prepare and compile information by working pending Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and creating or revising information elements.
- Receives instructions and incoming work from Project Leader or Senior Author.
- Reviews ECNs and drawings, existing information elements, and other record data.
- Determines what is eliminated or relocated from illustrations.
- Chooses to use a new illustration or revise an existing illustration and whether supplemental views are necessary.
- Revises 2D graphics, creates and maintains caption data, and updates the File Management System with change history data.
- Identifies discrepancies or incompleteness of incoming data and seeks assistance from the Senior Author or Project Leader if needed.
- From these same sources, receives advice regarding complex information elements, such as types of illustrations to use (orthographic, etc.)
- Expected to use a complement of authoring software tools in completing tasks.
- The ECN Lister determines ECNs apply to models.
- Collect and display information elements by engineering model structure.
- Resolves grief.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

- Associates Degree in automotive tech, engineering or related mechanical technologies
- Extensive knowledge of engineering databases
- The ability to read and understand engineering documents and blueprints; and graphics visualization skills
- Personal computer skills and familiarity with various software packages
- Position is in frequent contact with people outside the work group to give or obtain information. It is important for incumbents to express themselves clearly.
