Industrial Automation Test Engineer

TEST ENGINEER

In accordance with sound and acceptable engineering principles and test department standards, develop test specifications, develop testware, and execute tests in order to test industrial control system components. Testing will focus on system level testing. Testware should be developed to run automatically. Assignments are received from department manager and/or other team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Develops and follows detailed test specifications.
- Performs integration of test hardware and test software with product under test.
- Develops (or improves existing) design documentation and test procedures.
- Executes tests according to test specifications, records test results, and logs anomalies according to Test Department standards.

Projects require self-direction and ability to adjust to changes in priority and scope. Candidate must be able to work in a dynamic team oriented environment. This position demands a sense of urgency, customer focus, and continuous process improvement.

INTERPERSONAL:

Excellent communications skills (written and oral), influence capabilities, and an ability to work within a cross-functional team environment to achieve position objectives. Projects involve the interaction between departments including Design Engineering, Operations, and Quality.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Functional/System testing of industrial control system components or Systems Integration experience using industrial automation control products
- Current experience with RSLogix5000, ControlLogix, and EtherNet/IP Networks
- Must have experience with ladder programming.
- Current experience with GuardLogix safety controllers and safety I/O (DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP).
- Current experience (setup, debug, and use) with Kinetix motion control systems a plus
- Must be able to create and read control system schematics and configure, program, and troubleshoot control systems
- Strong system level troubleshooting skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio

This contract position is expected to be 5 months in duration.
