ICT Technical Services Officer

St Hugh's ICT Services supports a diverse community of College Members, guests and visitors. The department also provides support and services to the University of Oxford China Centre and Centre for Time Use Research. Underpinning the support that the department provides is a set of services, for which the ICT technical services officer will be responsible. The College network is on one site and comprises 29 edge cabinets serving 21 buildings connected via a mixture of OM1 and OM3 fibres. A mixture of HP switches is used throughout with the core due to be replaced soon. With completion of a project to replace the ageing Cisco wireless access system, the College will have complete coverage using Ruckus.

For server infrastructure, the College operates a unique co-located virtual infrastructure in collaboration with St Antony's College and Lady Margaret Hall which allows for speedy restoration of services in an off-site location in event of a disaster. This is based on Equallogic storage and VMware vSphere.

The College runs a Windows 2008 R2 Microsoft Active Directory and 2012 file servers. The managed desktop service for staff, the computer rooms and participating academics is based around Windows 7 and Office 2010 and is currently managed through Altiris 6.9 with a view to moving towards Dell KACE K1000 and K2000 virtual appliances. Business applications which are locally hosted are run on Windows Servers and Centos Linux. A new Wordpress based website for the College has just been launched.
