Essex County Fire & Rescue have a vacancy for a hands on Project Manager who can use a variety of Business Analysis, Project Management and Implementation skills to facilitate the identification and selection and use of new systems within Essex County Fire & Rescue Service. The role is one of four in the Projects and Change Team.

The Service is part way through a significant programme of change to the ICT systems used by the Service as it delivers vital emergency response and works to make sure Essex is as safe as possible.

The size of the Fire Service, coupled with a fantastic can do approach across the organisation has driven the need for individuals who can take ownership across the full life cycle of a project from the initial engagement with the project executive to produce the project brief all, the way through to working with the senior user to measure the benefits realised as a result of the project. You will have experience of managing a wide and varied range of projects to match the diverse ICT requirements of the Service, calling on and coordinating resources as and when needed. You will be an enabling part of the team that delivers the changes and then hands the systems into Service Support for transition to business as usual using the ITIL framework.

We would expect you to have experience of managing projects with duration of between three months and one year. You must be Prince 2 Practitioner qualified and we expect you to have the practical experience of using this framework as appropriate to enable successful delivery of projects. The ITIL Foundation qualification would be a distinct advantage.

The ICT team are based at the Service Headquarters which has excellent facilities and is conveniently located on the A12 near Kelvedon. There is a commitment to professional training for all of the ICT Team. The salary for this role is £34,549 - £36,313 (Local Government Grade PO3) and we offer flexible working and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, 08.30 - 17.00 Monday - Thursday, 08.30 - 16.30 Friday.
