IBM Rational Support Engineer

Our client is seeking a bilingual English/French or English/German Support Engineer for a 2 year contract in Amsterdam. The European Support Center employs around 70 software engineers supporting customers across EMEA.

We are looking for a Support Engineer with the following technical skills;
-  Windows and Linux operating systems; experience as advanced user;
-  UML (Unified Modeling Language) 2.2 hands-on knowledge;
-  Object Oriented Languages (Java and possibly C++): you understand the customer code and you can detect coding errors and malpractices; you can write code samples to identify and simplify a specific customer problem;
-  Java 7 knowledge, including new language features not present in Java 1.4;
-  Eclipse: experience as advanced user (Platform, Debug, JDT (Java Development Tools) and possibly CDT (C++ Development Tools), DTP (Data Tools Project), BIRT);
-  Client Server environments and protocols (HTTP, XML, SOAP, XML Schemas, WSDL, REST);
-  DataBases: any of DB2, Oracle, MS SQL; basic database administration skills; basic database design skills.
- JEE 5 and 6 knowledge. You can write simple examples of code following some of these specifications:

EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) 2.1, 3.0 and 3.1; JPA (Java Persistence Architecture) 1.0 and 2.0; Web Services (JAX-WS and JAX-RS);
- Application Servers (such as Tomcat or WebSphere Application Server, or WebSphere Portal Server but also others are acceptable);
- Troubleshooting Web applications written in JavaScript/Dojo, using AJAX.

This a career opportunity, training will be provided and the engagement is long term (2 years plus)

Fluency in English and French or German, Dutch not required.
