IBM Datapower Specialist required for the administration, installation and maintenance of Datapower solutions. THE JOB:

A vacancy has become available within the Technical Infrastructure department to provide support and administration for IBM Datapower Appliance employed within Nationwide Enterprise Middleware (NEM) on distributed applications and systems, ensuring that the management capability for these systems is maintained and supported with the highest level of quality and availability, ensuring Service Level targets can be met. This role also provides 2nd/3rd level 24x7 support and maintenance for the Software and includes out of hours support.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Play a senior technical specialist in the administration, installation and maintenance of Datapower solutions -focussed on Integration module XI52 of IBM Datapower Integration Appliances landscape ensuring that all changes are performed professionally and with minimal operational impact. This will be achieved by developing and enforcing standards for management capabilities within the distributed environment.
- Contribute to support initiatives by providing 24x7 hour technical callout facility for those systems that the team administers, maintains or provides support to.
- Provide technical support for problem diagnosis for DataPower Infrastructure comprising of liaising with other departments where necessary, to ensure all problems are resolved professionally with minimal operational or service impact.
- Proactively ensure DataPower estate is offering required High Levels of Availability and performing optimally and are able to ensure the achievement of Service Level expectations through accurate monitoring and automation capabilities.
- Work with internal developers, hardware/software vendors and integrators to assimilate knowledge of new systems being developed or deployed.
- Ensure all change and request work assigned to the team is performed in a timely manner per the scripts. Where possible, identify and work to resolve potential problems prior to implementation.
- Monitor and report on the status of projects/meetings attended by the NEM Support team, liaising with the project groups to ensure that the relevant and up-to-date information is made available to Operations.
- Provide a monthly management report on change and problem activity.
- Demonstrate the use of tracking and trending of DataPower related problems to ensure failures do not recur.
- Keep abreast of developments and emerging DataPower technology throughout the IT industry by means of networking, membership of specialist groups and ongoing training.
