Hydrodynamics & Hydroacoustics Technical Consultant

Background Capita is currently recruiting for a hydrodynamics & hydroacoustics Advisor to work with a central government client, for a 1 year contract based Wiltshire. Due to the nature of this role candidates will be required to hold a high level of security clearance prior to starting. Main Duties/ Responsibilities The role is divided between participating in an International Project Arrangement and advising on a Technical Demonstrator Programme. Activities include providing the client with detailed and independent technical analyses and advice in the following subject matter areas: * hydrodynamics & hydroacoustics * practical experience of underwater towed systems and winches * tow cables * systems engineering The applicant will be required to work with staff which comprises scientists and engineers from various labs. Occasional international visits should be anticipated. The applicant will be required to provide hydrodynamic and hydro-acoustic SME advice and technical review of Phase 1 of the TDP. Further information will be provided at interview for candidates who are successful. Skills/ Experience Required The applicant should be knowledgeable in the various computational methods used for hydrodynamic and fluid mechanics and possess a: * Sound understanding of hydrodynamic/hydroacoustic principles * Practical experience in analysis, testing and evaluation of towed submarine systems * Practical experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling * Ability to use Matlab to support modelling tasks * Good report writing and presentation skills * Able to communicate complex concepts effectively to DE&S project managers and international collaborative partners Formal Qualifications Required A degree in engineering or physical science * A higher degree in hydrodynamics and fluid mechanics Capita Resourcing welcome applications from all suitably qualified people regardless of gender, race, disability, age or sexual orientation.
