The Human Service Worker will support the Step Strong Program. Step Strong is a prevention program designed to increase middle and high school students ability to recognize their need for support, increase their awareness of available resources and show them how to access that support needed. The program is school based and preented in middle and high school health classes. It includes activities that appeal to visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. The program engages students in activities which require their participation and problem solving skills.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide direct services to clients and their families and for related activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Provide support services to clients and their families or employers, individually and in groups including job coaching as appropriate.
- Provide referral and follow up services to appropriate programs as needed.
- Make visits to clients and their families at their work sites/home/school as appropriate.
- Act as an advocate to programs and clients.
- Plan, implement, and facilitate program activities.
- Exemplify positive role modelling by professionalism, language, work ethic, and positive communication.
- Complete and maintain appropriate documentation and paperwork as required.
- Set goals and direction for the program participants.
- Work with other social service agencies, schools, community colleges, businesses, churches and employers to develop additional resources and/or work experience/job placements for program participants.
- Prepare group report forms and maintain confidential records on clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by a High School diploma or equivalent plus college coursework and/or technical experience.
- One to two years of related experience required.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults depending on population served.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Must be able to form good working relationships with various resources.
- Knowledge of relevant community resources preferred.
- Must have valid Ohio Drivers License with no greater than 4 points, and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
