Human Interface Design Engineer

HUMAN INTERFACE DESIGN
- Provide product usability, evaluation and support to the design and product development teams, including the analysis and investigation of applications/systems including tactile methods, visual graphics, web, multimedia, voice response and conversational user interaction;
- Create visual prototypes to test feasibility and user acceptance;
- Facilitate internal product workshops in order to measure the usability and quality of the user experience delivered by different user interface approaches;
- Adhere to design language to provide a consistency of colour and interaction across the product suite;
- Work with other members of the design team to refine solutions prior to presentation to a wider audience;
- Maintain knowledge of new User Interface technologies and assess feasibility and impact of adopting these technologies;

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To produce detailed user interface design specifications and documentation;
- To test and incorporate feedback from appropriate sources to suggested designs to ensure clarity, usability and safety objectives are met;
- Work within project timescales to allow development and delivery of System C products and solutions;
- Support the development team by refining specifications and providing additional detail when requested;
- To set appropriate customer expectations within the design of products and solutions.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

- Presentation of designs to internal staff, Senior management and clients;
- Enforcement of design standards - ensure our products have a consistent look and feel and that all workflows within an application are consistent throughout;
- Highlight and suggest changes to maintain accessibility and other standards compliance.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge and Experience

- A degree or equivalent experience in human computer interface design
- A minimum of 6 years' experience working in a user interface design role
- Sound knowledge of human interface design concepts and software ergonomics
- Experience of designing for mobile platforms is desirable
- Self-starter with an excellent eye for design and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both written and oral.
- Ability to present complex design concepts to technical programmers, product specialists and analysts

LOCATION

The base location will be agreed with the successful applicant, to be one of  our clients offices in Nottingham or Warrington.
