Human Factors Consultant - Surrey - 12 month contract - HCI/HMI, Design, CAD, Security Clearance

RATE: £450 - £500 PER DAY

Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit for a contract Human Factors Consultant on behalf of a client.

THE CLIENT AND THE JOB:

My Defence Consultancy client requires a highly qualified, professional, committed and flexible individual Human Factors Consultant to undertake a 12 month contract to commence ASAP.

We are looking for people who like the challenge of working in multi-disciplinary teams on major systems engineering programmes.

Opportunities include working on a number high profile projects in the Defence/Nuclear domain in a high hazard environment, working with the engineering designers to ensure HF aspects are considered as early as possible.

The role will also require the ability to review and governance worked performed by other HF practitioners as well as providing guidance and support.

The role will be based in Epsom with travel to Basingstoke and other Client sites.

KEY SKILLS

The chosen contractor will have the following:

A Degree or equivalent in ergonomics or a related appropriate field, such as psychology, engineering and industrial design would be desirable
Professional Chartership or Registered status.
Technical expertise in a number of the following areas is essential; User Interface Design (HCI/HMI), workspace design, anthropometrics, task analysis, allocation of function, workload analysis, manpower analysis, human reliability assessment, safety, training, systems engineering, human factors requirements elicitation, occupational psychology, organisational psychology, including organisational change, influencing and behavioural safety
Knowledge and experience of applying Human Factors Integration processes and standards is essential
Experience in the application of Human Factors tools and techniques to support technical programmes either within industry, consultancy or research
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills with a practical and pragmatic approach to problem solving
Highly motivated, with the initiative to take on work independently
Should demonstrate a positive attitude and have the ability to work with other disciplines and be part of a multidisciplinary team
Experience of using CAD packages and human simulation
Experience of working in multi-discipline teams and dealing with multiple stakeholders and clients.
Some work outside normal office hours may be necessary.
Have proven experience of support/mentor/peer review junior staff on site
Travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to client s offices may also be required in both the UK and Overseas

This is a 12 month contract role, paying £450 - £500 per day. All candidates must be willing to undergo a security clearance

The role is based in Surrey and is commutable from Reading, Crawley, London and Kent.
