HTS Screener

Screening support to produce HTS in vitro data in support of driving discovery efforts. The position includes performing biological assays using automation technologies to generate pharmacologically and biologically relevant endpoint data specific in efforts to identify lead chemical matter through screening compound libraries. Additionally, analysis of this data will be a key aspect of the role. The position is within a highly matrixed group and teamwork is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
HTS Assays:
Perform biological incubations with test compounds in plate formats with assay-specific reagents and liquid handling equipment. Takes raw results and determines endpoint data using IT systems.

Other Duties:
Cell culturing, lab infrastructure maintenance, potential for performing automation programming, compound handling.

Minimum Background and Experience:

- Educational background: Bachelor degree or equivalent in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related disciplines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Experience with automated liquid handling systems a plus, but not required.
- Experience in an industrial lab where data is produced on a recurring basis is a plus, but not required.

Additional Information:
Work environment:
The person filling this position works in a laboratory that handles human and animal tissues along with automation equipment and infrastructure. There may be exposure to chemicals, and biological hazardous materials.

Work will be conducted in both lab and office facilities.

MOST CRITICAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of biology, ability to utilize technologies including automation and liquid handling apparatus, familiarity with basic computer programs, teamwork and communication skills.

REQUIRED PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to take direction, a self-starter and to learn quickly.

OTHER:
Currently in the process of building a variety of means to enable HTS business including retooling internal abilities and to establishing a vendor base. This contractor will enable this work by performing routine tasks associated with either direct conduct or indirect capacity easing that adds capacity to perform HTS work.

NO OVERTIME OR TRAVEL REQUIRED.
