HR & Payroll Manager sought by our Public Sector Client for an initial 3 month contract in Northampton covering teams based in both Northampton and Cheshire..

As HR & Payroll Manager your key focus is on leading an excellent, multi-customer focused Employment Services and Payroll Team which supports strategic objectives of a shared service organisation.

You will be required to quickly develop strong working relationships both within and external to your team to deliver outstanding performance. In addition as HR & Payroll Manager you will be required to demonstrate flexibility, openness and leadership of change. You will also be required to demonstrate professional customer service skills by responding to needs and taking responsibility for service delivery.

You will be required to ensure that the data input and payroll system is administered effectively and professionally. You will also be required to demonstrate a keen understanding of how you and your team contribute to performance delivery, ensuing targets and service level agreements are met whilst striving for continuous improvement.

Taking personal responsibility for your own direction, decisions, actions whilst operating with high integrity and professionalism will be key for the successful HR & Payroll Manager. You will also be charged with improving existing processes, compliance and procedures. You will also put in place systems to ensure that all written instructions and processes are followed in practice, recommending system changes to the business process teams.

To be successful as HR & Payroll Manager you will have previous experience of working within a HR and Payroll transactional service. You may also have broader experience across other specialist areas such as Resourcing or Pensions.

You will be an experienced line manager, have well-grounded knowledge of current employment legislation and experience, you will understand freedom of information and data protection principles and ideally council specific procedures and condition of service. You will be comfortable working within a complex payroll and pension system.

You may also be a chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development or in the process of applying for membership, hold a relevant degree or be qualified to CIPP team management for Payroll.

You will be highly numerate, have strong verbal reasoning, technology and communications skills. You will be well organised, comfortable working in a pressured work environment and have strong customer focus driven by a desire to complete all tasks to time and quality.
