Avanti Recruitment is working with a financial company based in Central London looking for a HR generalist to work on a 6 month contract (maternity cover).

Salary:
Dependent on experience.

Delivery of operational HR services throughout the employee life cycle including resource management, recruitment, performance, case management and Payroll.

Key accountabilities

Provide line managers and employees with timely and accurate specialist HR advice on all aspects of HR
Enable line mangers in the effective use of HR Services by providing professional advice and guidance on the use of policies, processes and self service
Ensure fairness and consistency in the way policies and procedures are applied across the business, taking into consideration specific circumstances of each case
Delivery of services to time, cost and quality in line with business requirements
Embed a performance culture within the Function as a mechanism for driving business improvement, by ensuring clear objective setting and performance management through behaviours aligned to our values. Champion and support Managers with the performance management and review processes
Analyse HR management information, provide insights on trends and make appropriate recommendations regarding individual situations to improve business performance
Provide advice, data, interpretation and guidance on HR policy and ER issues. Coach and support Managers involved in the management of disciplinary, grievance and appeal hearings to build Line Manager capability
Contribute to the development of the functional people plan and facilitate local action plans which underpin the achievement of the people and organisation agenda
Provide input and guidance to the establishment of resourcing requirements and development of resource plans, which manage the gap between the supply and demand for people resources, drive efficiency and effectiveness and ensure appropriate size, shape, quality and cost
Contribute to the development and implementation of talent and succession plans as a mechanism to facilitate team and individual development and ensure effective resource planning
Provide coaching to Line Managers linked to handling performance and conduct issues
Provide advice, data, interpretation and guidance on HR policy and ER issues

Responsibilities

Providing advice and feedback to other areas of HR when needed, for example to Resourcing on queries such as ex-employees and redeployment
Facilitating and coordinating investigations, disciplinary and grievance hearings, providing managers with the appropriate skills and support to undertake formal meetings, ensuring due process is followed and that risk to the Company is minimised
Producing appropriate and policy compliant letters and documentation in support of casework
Maintaining accurate and up to date records of casework, identifying and taking action on issues and trends
Assessing the appropriateness and validity of HR policies, procedures and processes and advising of any findings or making recommendations to the Policy Manager
Undertaking any specific projects as and when required
Liaising with other HR functions, Payroll, TMS, Security and other key stakeholders on any matter relevant to them

Qualifications

Good standard of education, literacy and numeracy
CIPD qualified, desirable

Knowledge

Up-to-date and accurate knowledge, understanding and application of employment legislation, compliance, and best practice
Good knowledge, understanding and application of HR policies, procedures and processes
General commercial and financial awareness and potential impact of advice or actions on business

Experience

Experience as an HR generalist managing a variety of competing tasks/priorities including disciplinary and grievance cases
Relevant business background preferably knowledge and understanding of a Matrix organisational structure, business dynamics, and how the HR function can support and enable the business strategy
