CIRCA £150 PER DAY

FULL TIME, 37 HOURS

3 MONTH CONTRACT

BASED IN CHELMSFORD

At Essex County Council we have an outstanding track record in delivering organisational transformation. Over the last three years we have delivered over £300m of savings whilst working hard to improve services to our customers and to continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for Essex.
In order to support this significant change HR Advice and Support Team are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and solution focused HR consultant to take a commercial approach to advice and decision making and delivering change in line with the Councils goals.

THE ROLE
Working within the Case Team, you will be responsible for providing a quality and consistent Human Resource service. HR Consultants will need to perform an advisory role to deal with personal and telephone enquiries to ensure that staff issues are resolved, applying own judgement and criteria to adapt recommendations or experience depending on the circumstances. You will maintain a responsibility for completing each case and provide a link and consistent advice to the manager.
The HR Consultant will offer expert advice to managers to ensure that the County Council's Human Resource policies are properly and consistently implemented across all services. You will also be responsible for supporting managers on performance, development and change management issues ensuring that legislative requirements are met.

CANDIDATE SUMMARY
You will be able to demonstrate a firm understanding of employee relations as you will be responsible for offering advice to a range of service area's on; disciplinary, grievances and absences. A background within mental health would be advantageous as you will need to be proactive and innovative to enable the already successful HR Team define its commercial approach that continuously seeks to improve performance whilst continuing to deliver its services. You will have shown previous experience of coaching and building relationships with managers and senior stakeholders to understand HR policies and practices within the County Council.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Proven track record of involvement in providing a HR service within an organisation.
- Currently hold or working towards CIPD qualification to build the knowledge required or evidence of competence within a similar setting.
- Ability to provide advice and support to managers and various senior stakeholders.
- Experience of dealing with and advising on a range of issue.
- Experience of working on projects with set outcomes and timescales, understanding of the basic principles of project management and change management practices.
- Ability to hit the ground running in a fast moving working environment.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the scope of own decision-making remit, making a clear recommendation or proposing viable options.
