My client, a leading UK Retail Bank, are currently looking for an accomplished HR Business Partner to join them on an interim basis. Experience within Financial Services is essential.

JOB PURPOSE

Work in partnership with senior business leaders as a real business player, contributing to the development of the business areas agenda and strategy. The likely HR agenda will be:

- HR Transformation
- Organisation design
- Organisation change and it's impact on people
- Reward and payround processes
- Performance Development
- Resourcing
- People capability build/Talent development
- Employee Relations

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategic Partnership (60%)

- To be an active and influential player enabling the effective diagnosis of business issues/strategy and goals, turning these into People Plans
- Understands BU/Functional areas' plans and to develop and deliver people strategies and solutions within the overall BU/Functional people strategy.
- Take a proactive role in the development of the HR Priorities and lead the implementation of this and other major change as required within business areas. Drive business leadership teams, through the interpretation of these priorities turning them into real action plans.
- To provide active leadership, in partnership with business leadership teams, on HR issues such as reward, employee relations, talent, performance, organisation development/change, culture, leadership and learning and development
- To challenge, provoke and coach business leaders on how to engage employees and address resulting people issues and build people capabilities effectively. To drive the raising of the performance bar and build a strong and rigorous development culture
- Provide a strategic partnership to senior business leaders or senior functional leader. Providing advice to the BU CEO/senior BUs or senior functional leader on people matters and acts as a sounding board and coach.
- Has a good understanding of the marketplace, competitive position and commercial drivers for the business. Uses analytics, data and trends both internal and external to diagnose BU issues and recommend solutions
- Ensures seamless delivery and interactions with HR specialist teams
- Is well connected with appropriate external bodies and networks that help to provide insights and benchmarks to Bus/Functions
- Drives projects and change effectiveness across the BUs/functions
- Sets clear direction and plans for 1-2 years, able to flex and vary resources and priorities in response to changing situations
- Leader of a HR team of HR professionals, able to hire and attract capable HR people
- Proactively seek feedback from the business leaders on the quality of HR service delivery.

OPERATIONAL AGENDA (20%)

Ensure that key HR operational processes are delivered successfully to the business. In particular:

- Transactional HR processes delivered by the HR shared service organisation in the bank is successfully delivering to service levels
- Provide leadership to cyclical performance development processes in the named business areas
- Provide leadership to the annual payround process
- Provide leadership to the recruitment process in the named business areas and have personal involvement in senior hires, including reward package development

TEAM LEADERSHIP (10%)

- To lead and support direct reports, managing and developing them to their full potential.

GOVERNANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT (10%)

- Take accountability for partnering with business leaders in maintaining and monitoring the bank's standards. eg Fit for Business requirements.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES      

Good understanding of all aspects of HR from an operational and transformational perspective

- Confident at building relationships
- Able to operate within ambiguity
- Proactive approach and not afraid to challenge
- Able to read situations and apply clear thought process to resolve issues

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE 

ESSENTIAL

- Good level of business acumen
- Some industry knowledge
- Appreciation of key financial metrics

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE           

ESSENTIAL

- Strong HR Generalist by background
- Experience of coaching senior leaders and facilitating senior teams
- CIPD Qualified

PREFERRED

- University degree/MBA
